Privacy Policy

NIACE recognises the importance of protecting the privacy of anyone who visits or uses any NIACE website. This Privacy Statement sets out the policy adopted by NIACE towards visitors of the website. No personal identifying information will be collected during your visit.  

When visiting the  website NIACE will:

  1. Respect your privacy and confidentiality,
  2. Only record your personal details in the manner and for the purposes set out in this Privacy Statement;
  3. Keep your personal details secure from unauthorised access, use or disclosure; and
  4. Not sell, rent, trade or otherwise knowingly share or provide your personal information to any third party except insofar as legally obliged to do so.
  5. Only use your information in accordance with the terms of the Data Protection Act 1998.

Information Collected

1. Indirect collection:
The web server automatically collects standard information such as browser type, operating system, access times, etc.

The website uses cookies to customise web page content. Cookies are small electronic files which a website can transfer to a user’s hard drive to identify a user and personalise their use of that website. In the case of this website, this is to enable users to select their own visual preferences.

Any information that is collected indirectly is used by NIACE only to monitor the volume, type and pattern of traffic towards, and usage of, this website and to develop the design and layout of the website.

2. Direct collection:
NIACE collects limited personal information from incoming email enquiries. This is in the form of the users name and contact telephone number.  

This website contains hypertext links to external websites. NIACE is not responsible for the privacy policies operated by the owners of those sites and does not accept responsibility for any information obtained by third parties as a result of use by you of such hypertext links.

Privacy Statement Updates
NIACE reserves the right to periodically update or modify this privacy policy. Any changes to this Privacy Statement will be posted on the website so that users are always aware of the purposes and reasons for the information being collected. NIACE always encourages users who may have specific concerns about the gathering or use of any such information to view this Privacy Statement regularly.

Security Statement

Project data will be held centrally by NIACE in accordance with NIACE’s data policy.

NIACE has a recently-updated Information Security Policy. This is supported with a training package for all staff. The policy sets out to ensure that all of our work complies with the requirements of the data protection act and any additional data requirements of project funders.

All laptop computers have Endpoint security software which complies with the FIPS 140-2 standard. USB device encryption is also assured to the same standard. Paper-based data is protected securely and shredded when no longer required.

In data management NIACE is mindful of its responsibility both to government and to citizens. It is also conscious of the need to balance the security of data with a willingness to share information appropriately to ensure that the management of public finance is seen as a fair and transparent process.
